Other Infrastructure: Phase I (Blocks A - K)

Water

Phase I will be serviced by three groundwater monitoring wells. One well currently exists, and the other two will be installed according to the engineer's water drawings.  A well survey was conducted throughout the area and groundwater is plentiful beneath the site, recent test proved the water to be potable. Several rivers are located close to the site, and the alluvial deposits are saturated.  All land owners in the area use groundwater for potable water and several wells already exist onsite. To supply water to homeowners, production wells will be drilled and an onsite tank will be installed for water storage. We have obtained the Water Distribution System documents for Phase I, and are currently waiting on permit approval.

Electricity

The electrical infrastructure will be sourced through wind and solar energies. Ocean Star is currently getting quotes for set up and installation for the electricity.

Septic Tanks

Septic tanks will be installed by homeowners as part of home construction. These systems, which are common throughout the Dominican Republic and many other islands in the Caribbean, are closed duel tank systems and require little maintenance. (See picture below)  This construction practice protects potable groundwater quality, especially in coastal areas. Usually the system is cleaned every two to three years, depending upon use. Septic tanks range from $5,000 to $7,000 USD.

Telephone

Telephone lines will not be supplied, as the current technology in the Dominican Republic is mobile phone access.

Internet

Internet service will be provided through the Internet Cafe in the clubhouse. There will be fees to use the internet services. The service offered is high-speed internet. You may also have internet services connected to your house. The fees are as follows:

Initial Installation: The equipment will cost $2,721 USD. This is a one time fee.

Monthly Service Plans: You may choose between the following high speed options:

• $145 USD- This plan will allow you to connect to 2 computers
• $245 USD- This plan will allow you to connect to 3 computers
• $355 USD- This plan will allow you to connect to 5 computers

*It is possible to split the internet services between more than one household. The houses must be within a certain proximity of each other. This option may be discussed and worked out with the internet provider. Also, you may add more computers to a plan, but the service will no longer be high-speed, this will slow the speed of the service.
