Welcome to the beautiful Dominican Republic island! We hope you enjoyed your flight into Puerto Plata, which means “Silver Port” in Spanish. This charming north coast city is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world who are seeking a relaxing vacation in a tropical climate. This inviting island has five mountain ranges, countless rivers, spectacular waterfalls, sweeping valleys and is surrounded on three sides with breathtaking beaches. Some of the world’s finest amber is found on the North Shore, also billed as the Amber Coast, and its shores are lined with some of the Caribbean’s finest resorts.

spectacular waterfalls, sweeping valleys... and breathtaking beaches.

Puerto Plata’s central location on the island makes it great for taking day trips. You may want to visit the eclectic beach town of Sosua, just 15 minutes east, with its three powdery golden sand beaches and turquoise water. Or Cabarete, a seaside town that attracts windsurfers and those seeking an adventurous vacation.

Today, though, we invite you to travel with us to Luperon, about an hour’s drive west of Puerto Plata. Located on a lovely large bay, most of the inhabitants of this quiet port town make their living through fishing in the area. We are going to tour an exciting new development: Ocean Star Estates. With its spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and great prices, you will soon see why this property is a “star” on the North Shore of the Dominican Republic.

Here we are at the entrance to Ocean Star Estates, 43 acres of prime ocean-view property.

Entrance to Ocean Star Estates

We are starting our tour at the highest point on the property, approximately 150 feet above sea level. Nearby is the Caribbean’s highest point, Pico Duarte, at 10,094 feet. Duarte is one of 20 peaks in the "Dominican Alps,” and it towers above the protected reserve of Bermudez National Park. Twelve major rivers rush through this immense park, including the two largest rivers in the Caribbean.

As we step inside the entrance, look to the north for your first, unforgettable view of the Atlantic Ocean from Ocean Star Estates. Isn’t this the view you’ve dreamed of waking up to every morning?

Let’s continue our tour by heading towards Block C. Before we leave Block A, though, envision a clubhouse perched here at the highest point of Ocean Star Estates, with a patio overlooking the beautiful ocean.

This is where residents of the development will be able to socialize, play cards, enjoy a drink on the patio under palm trees moving gently in the wind, watch the sunset, or otherwise relax in the tropical ambience. You might even see a humpback whale, as thousands of these “great whales” from the North Atlantic migrate to the waters of the Dominican Republic each winter to mate and give birth. The ocean bordering Ocean Star Estates is a favorite area for viewing whales. Imagine being able to see a whale from your own property. Samana Bay, about 70 miles northeast of Puerto Plata, is considered by the World Wildlife Fund to be one of the best places in the world to watch whales.
